LOAD is over , at least the first edition has ended. It was a blast, it was local , at least for some of us , it was sometimes in depth, sometimes the right level of overview.
We want to thank every speaker, and every attendee for being here. We hope you had a nice stay in Wilrijk, and you learned a lot of interesting things during the event itself.
We would also like to thank our different sponsors , Inuits, Bacula ,Netlog , Opscode, IT Partners and Fedora for financial support, JustEat.be for the Pizza Logistics , O'Reilly for the books , Krimson for the Drupal theming, Multihost for the domain and ZeroPoint IT for the logo
A special word of thanks must go to Don Bosco werken én leren, where we could host the event , a school that offers parttime education.
They work with students between 17 and 20 years old and allow them to go to school one week and go out for work the other week.
We learned from the director, Johan Jacquemin, that he has one big passion: getting the best out of people. And an event like LOAD fits in this vision, because interested students and teachers were enabled to learn new stuff, and people. It also enables to strengthen the students in their interest field, and according to Johan is that one of the most important parts of education to get the students as far as possible. People like to work with things they are interested in. It is quite the challenge for the school to work with students from foreign countries, problem situations and really interested people. But with a good policy the school succeeds in getting a good attitude from most students, as well as from their parents, wich is important too. According to Johan , working is a habit, just as not working. That's also the reason he works at a Don Bosco school.
